The Middlesbrough School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) partnership is committed to working collaboratively in order to promote and deliver a high quality, school based course of training which will enable trainees to develop the range of professional skills necessary for them to become effective, qualified teachers in the 21st century.

Middlesbrough SCITT is a recently accredited provider.  It is a consortium of eight local secondary schools of a diverse nature, providing trainees with the opportunity to spend time with specialist teachers in a variety of settings, including Primary and Post 16.  We offer a one-year, full-time course which features:

  • School based, high quality training
  • One week induction period
  • Highly practical training sessions in both subject specific and whole school issues
  • Trainees working in schools for the majority of their training
  • A base at Macmillan Academy Learning Centre which has first class facilities

The Training Programme includes:

  • A comprehensive one week induction period which incorporates an Outward Bound experience based at Macmillan Academy Learning Centre which aims to develop team building, time management, leadership and management skills.
  • Interactive and highly practical training sessions which will prepare you for teaching.
  • The opportunity to meet regularly with other trainees to share experience, ideas and good practice.
  • Subject specific training sessions which address individual and group needs.
