Science TraineeThere has never been a better time to start teaching science.

The importance of science education has been recognised by the DfES and the DTI who have jointly produced a 10 year strategy the ‘Science Investment and Innovation Framework’  GCSE courses have changed beyond recognition to reflect the importance of scientific understanding to everyone.  As a secondary school teacher you will be helping pupils to understand the science behind the most important issues facing society and mankind from genetic engineering to global warming; and giving them the tools to understand issues in their future lives that we cannot begin to predict

The Middlesbrough SCITT course includes a comprehensive training programme to equip you to teach science at KS3 and a wide range of science courses at KS4.  Experience in the partner schools will cover the 11 to 16 age range with an opportunity to at least observe some post 16 learners.

You will need a good science background; an understanding of the importance of science in everyday life; an enthusiasm for the subject; the flexibility to work in an ever changing and developing subject area – and above all else the desire to pass your interest and enthusiasm to the next generation.
